A Low-Profile Way to Straighten Teeth
Clear aligners are smooth, removable trays that guide teeth into healthier positions a little at a time. Because they are nearly invisible and come out for meals and brushing, they are a popular choice for teens who want a flexible, low-profile option.
At Bright Star Kids Dentistry in Reunion, clear aligner treatment is directed by our orthodontist, Dr. Dafne Ellis, DMD, MS. Each set of trays is worn for a period of time before moving to the next, gently progressing toward the planned result. The key to success is simple: aligners only work when they are being worn.
Is your child a good candidate? That depends on their smile and their habits. An orthodontic consultation gives Dr. Ellis a chance to evaluate your child's needs and tell you honestly whether clear aligners or another option would serve them better.

Clear Aligner Candidacy and Care
Clear aligners can be a good fit for some children and teens, but they depend on consistent wear. A consultation looks at the bite, tooth movement needed, jaw and tooth development, oral hygiene, and whether your child can keep track of removable trays during school, meals, sports, and sleep.
Aligners are removed for eating and brushing, which can make some routines easier than braces. They also require the trays to be stored safely, cleaned as directed, and worn according to the orthodontic plan. If a tray is lost or stops fitting, contact the Reunion office so the team can guide the next step rather than guessing.
Dr. Ellis can compare clear aligners with braces, monitoring, or another orthodontic option after evaluating your child's smile. That conversation gives your family a clear understanding of what each path involves before you choose.

Daily Wear, School, and Sports With Aligners
Clear aligners are removable, but that flexibility comes with responsibility. Your child needs a safe place to store the trays during meals, a plan for brushing before putting them back in, and a reminder routine that works during school and activities. Consistent wear matters more than simply owning the trays.
Water is generally the easiest drink to have while trays are in place. Other drinks and all food should be handled according to the orthodontic team's instructions, followed by cleaning before the aligners go back in. A guard may still be important for sports, and the orthodontist can explain how to coordinate both appliances.
Children and teens should call if a tray is lost, cracked, painful, or no longer fits. Moving ahead without guidance can interrupt the plan. At each follow-up, the team can check progress and decide whether the next set of trays still fits the developing smile.
